The Waiting Room

For twenty-five years I've watched people tell stories through symptoms.

Medicine is often taught as the study of disease.

I've found it to be equally the study of people.

This room is a collection of observations gathered from exam rooms, waiting rooms, conversations, and the strange theater of everyday clinical practice.

Some became essays.

Some became Bog Witch.

Some became coffee mugs.

Most began as field notes.
